Olivia Brown
Compliance Officer
Why did you apply to work at Bath Building Society?
I really liked the idea of working for a mutual Building Society, that has such a close relationship with its members. Since I started in the Savings team, I thought that was an important part of customer service that many bigger banks and building societies don’t offer.
How has your career developed since you’ve worked at the Society?
I joined two years ago as a Customer Service Officer and have been promoted 3 times. I worked my way up by becoming a Senior Customer Service Officer after only a few months at the Society, to then becoming a Quality Control Officer within the Savings team. I worked closely with Compliance activities in the 1st line which sparked my interest in joining Compliance and I was successful in applying for my current role.
What does your role involve?
I work as a Compliance Officer with a focus on Savings and Treasury. My job entails 2nd line monitoring the different activities performed by the two relevant departments as well as making sure the Society operate in a compliant way adhering to regulations and industry-specific guidelines.
What’s the best thing about working for Bath Building Society?
I love how supportive the business is in different areas of my job, such as project work, progression, and even in day-to-day work. We all have the opportunity to share our ideas to help improve the business.
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
I think the amount of progression I’ve made in my career since starting work here. It really shows how much the Society believes in my career goals and supports me to get there.
