Community involvement
We’re proud to support our local community throughout the year. Find out what’s coming up and how we are getting involved.
Volunteering Programme
We know that time is as valuable as money to our local charities and community groups. The volunteering programme allows all Bath Building Society colleagues a working day each year to give back to our local community and take part in voluntary or charity activities. That’s over 500 hours each year.
Rotary Club of Bath
We’ve worked closely with The Rotary Club of Bath for many years and have developed a strong partnership supporting the incredible work The Rotary Club do in our local community including a number of charitable events throughout the year.
The Firework Poster Competition
We have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds over the 43 years that the Society was the main sponsor of this community fireworks event in central Bath.
We continue to support the annual Firework Safety Poster campaign that runs alongside the firework event. This competition is aimed at all primary school children in Bath and the surrounding area to help them understand the importance of Firework safety. Most people who have attended a primary school in Bath will have entered the competition over the years.
The Annual Rotary Carol Service at Bath Abbey
The Annual Rotary Carol Service at Bath Abbey has been a key date in Bath’s Christmas celebrations for over 70 years and we are delighted to have been the main sponsor for the last six years. The event is an opportunity for elderly and disabled residents of care homes around Bath to get together and enjoy the festive event, also attended by local dignitaries. Free transport is provided by The Rotary Club.
Financial Education
More than 2,300 local students (4,000 student hours) benefit each year from our financial education programme with our partner WizeUp. As part of our Financial Education programme we work with local sixth forms, Threeways School and Bath College to educate students and give them confidence to make sound financial decisions about borrowing, savings and budgeting as they prepare for University or working life.
