Charity of the Year

Our Charity of the Year is an individual charity that we support for a set period of one year. We highlight the work they do and help raise funds for them. We choose our Charity of the Year by inviting colleagues to nominate charities they are passionate about and believe do important work in our local community. A shortlist of three charities are then voted for by our Members. We are currently supporting Julian House.

Introducing Julian House

Julian House helps homeless people and other vulnerable adults who have fallen into the worst of circumstances. These include adults and young people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, adults with learning difficulties and people who need support after leaving prison. Julian House gives them the opportunity to get their lives back on track. Demand for their services is at an all time high and the Society will support the charity through colleague volunteering time, colleague fundraising and donations from AGM voting and the Rotary Christmas collection.

These include homeless outreach services, a 20-bed emergency access hostel and various support. Julian House also run multiple training programmes (including at bike workshops in Bath and Trowbridge) to help people regain confidence, learn new transferable work skills, get back into education, volunteering and employment.

We look forward to working closer with Bath Building Society colleagues and Members to increase awareness of the life changing work and life savings support Julian House offers.”
