Financial Education

The Society is driven to help people achieve greater financial wellbeing and delivering financial education to young people in our community is a key part of this. With the cost of-living crisis, it has never been more important to help young people gain a better understanding of how to manage their money and avoid debt, while also improving life skills and employability.

We’re proud to support the local community delivering financial education workshops to local schools and sixth forms, with thousands of local students benefiting from the programme each year. To provide the workshops we partner with WizeUp Financial Education, a charity dedicated to equipping young people with essential financial skills for adult life.

We work with the schools to tailor content to individual needs including separate sessions for parents to help them navigate University finance.

Our schools need more support to deliver financial education which isn’t currently adequately provided through the national curriculum. If you are interested in finding out how we could support your Bath & North East Somerset school curriculum please contact us.

What the schools say

Beechen Cliff logo

“The sixth form workshops cater brilliantly for the wide spectrum of post-18 options, ranging from student finance for our university applicants through to budgeting to tax codes for our students going into the world of work. The team really captivated the students with a relatable tone and humour. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Bath Building Society for these valuable workshops.”

Kim Mather - Coordinator UCAS and Future Horizons Lead

Hayefield school

“Our students were very appreciative of all of the information about finance that you provided them. Always good to have an expert delivering the important content rather than just me.”

David Rutt - Deputy Head

Ralph Allen school

“The workshop was really well received by our year 12 students. The presenter was a very knowledgeable speaker who answered their questions with good humour and kept the workshops running at a good pace. It was helpful to have an input into the planning of the lesson. We will happily work with Bath Building Society and Wize Up again. The students gave the lesson very positive feedback - always the end goal.”

Ms J Haggett - Assistant Headteacher/Head of Sixth Form

Saint Gregory's

“Students and staff found the bespoke sessions incredibly informative. Ed was an excellent presenter, enthusing them and making some tricky concepts much more accessible. We will definitely be looking for opportunities to work with Bath Building Society and Wize Up in the future.”
